2023 Grenache, Golden Eagle Vineyard, Mendocino

$28.00

This cuvée comes from 60+ year old, head trained vines, growing just east of Hopland, CA, and showcases what we love about old vine fruit. Namely, concentration, structure, and the ability to maintain acidity, without excessive weight, or high alcohol. The two tons of pristine grapes we harvested, were destemmed (mostly… I couldn’t help myself and added about 5% whole bunches) fermented by native yeast, and aged for 10 months in neutral French oak barrels. The expected red fruit flavors of Grenache are joined by orange zest and tarragon, framed by appealingly chalky tannins.
